According to informed sources, the two top regulatory agencies on Wall Street, the CFTC and SEC, are discussing plans to move into the same complex in Washington, D.C., just steps away from the U.S. Capitol.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) oversee different markets. According to these sources, the plan will not merge the two agencies but is discussing relocating the CFTC to the same complex where the SEC is currently located, near Union Station. This relocation plan has been under discussion since last year, and according to these sources, it may not be implemented until as early as 2027. The agency responsible for overseeing federal real estate—the General Services Administration (GSA)—is also involved in these discussions.
