XRP remains profitable for 3-6 month holders amid market weakness. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana trading below mid-term cost basis. Data reveals 11% unrealized profit for XRP mid-term investors. Recent data from Glassnode reveals XRP as the only high-caliber cryptocurrency remaining profitable for investors who purchased the asset within the last three to six months. This finding highlights XRP’s unique position amid broader market stagnation that has characterized much of early 2025. The cryptocurrency market has failed to maintain the upward trajectory seen in late 2024. While Bitcoin and XRP trade close to their year-opening prices, many altcoins have recorded deeper losses. XRP gave up its over 35% gains from January when it peaked at $3.399, but still maintains a 2% year-to-date increase. Glassnode’s analysis, shared in a Tuesday tweet, compared current prices of four major cryptocurrencies against the cost basis of buyers during the December-January bullish period. The data specifically evaluated mid-term sentiment by examining portfolio performance of holders who invested three to six months ago. Are Top Buyers in Profit or Pain? Comparing current prices to the cost basis of euphoric buyers (Dec ‘24–Jan ‘25) reveals mid-term sentiment: SOL: $146 → 28% loss XRP: $2.14 → +11% profit ETH: $1.8K → -36% loss BTC: $95K → -1% loss Price... pic.twitter.com/i5snu7Re7O — glassnode (@glassnode) May 6, 2025 Mid-term holder profitability varies widely The analysis found addresses holding major digital assets within this timeframe are experiencing considerable losses, with XRP being the notable exception. This underscores the fourth-largest cryptocurrency’s stability despite challenging market conditions. For context, Solana at $146 trades 28% below the 3-6 month realized price by age trendline, indicating substantial losses for mid-term holders. Ethereum shows even greater weakness, with its $1,800 price trending 36% below the average purchase price for this cohort of investors. Bitcoin sits slightly below the cost basis at $95,000, but has shown more resilience than Ethereum and Solana. Its recent move past $96,000 may have pushed 3-6-month-old positions into profitable territory. XRP, however, has maintained positive momentum, with buyers from December and January enjoying an unrealized profit of at least 11%. This profitability reduces selling pressure among mid-term holders and positions XRP as a potentially attractive option for new investors.
